What is Orton-Gillingham?

A proven, research-based approach to teaching reading

Orton-Gillingham is a structured, sequential, and multisensory approach to literacy instruction. Developed in the 1930s by Dr. Samuel Orton and Anna Gillingham, it remains the gold standard for teaching children with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences.

As an IMSE-certified tutor, I use the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education's methodology, which is accredited by the International Dyslexia Association. This training ensures that every lesson follows the science of reading, engaging visual, auditory, and kinesthetic pathways simultaneously.

Lessons are explicit and systematic, meaning no guessing or memorization by sight. Students learn the logic and structure of the English language, building from simple sounds to complex spelling patterns with confidence and mastery.

Instruction is also diagnostic and prescriptive. I continuously assess your child's progress and tailor each session to address their specific needs, ensuring efficient, targeted learning that produces lasting results.
